Description: rut

Went to NY the other day and it was nice and cold out. At about 7 AM I caught two does sneaking threw the brush. I thought to myself wheres the buck. Sure enough I hear grunting and see a 6 poniter following them. Bad thing no shot. I strart grunting and bleating as they pass me. I catch soming out of the corner of my eye and there is a 4 point behind the 6 !! I cant get a shot at anything!! I am watching and wanting to cry when I hear what sounds like a truck crashing threw the bushes. Holy crap !!!! I look around the tree and there is a monster running um all down. They all go past and I bleat. The big boy turns around and starts towards me. I am getting ready and the 6 steps out of no wheres. The biggie is at least 75 yards off. But this ones at 40. I draw and let fly. Wouldnt ya know it I hit a branch that was about 10 yards in front of me!! AGH!!! They all end up chasing the does around for almost 1 hr below me with out a shot.

After they left and I stopped shaking I turn around to see a big coyote heading straight towards me from behind me. It goes directly under my stand and out in front. I let it get to about 10 yards and put one right in its back dropping it in its tracks with out a sound from it!!!!

I will try to post pics of it soon.. Buck

Man, I though I was the only one who got the shakes.. After the basket rack & doe got run off by the big 6, I was attempting to follow them with my binocs.. Almost gave myself motion sickness shaking the damn glass so much.. Good Job on the Yote tho, they do more dammage to the deer herd than any other thing out there..

I hunted Fri-Sun upstate. Had deer in range every day (35 yds day 1, 6 yds day 2, 6 yds day 3), although didn't take any shots. Fun times, other than the whole freezing my boys off thing.
