I shot a Doe at 4:45 PM tonight in New Jersey. She weighed in about 95# dressed.
I got into my stand about 3:30, and had a small doe about 80 yards away immediately. About an hour later, this doe appeared, walking a trail right to me. She walked quickly to me, stopping 2 steps before a perfect shooting lane pose, because she saw my decoy buck. She was curious about it, but not alarmed. She circled around for a few seconds, upwind, and then continued on her original path.
She came into 21 yards, and I squeezed my arrow through a tight shooting window that I'm now glad I cut! I hit her forward, at the front edge of the scapula. The Arrow penetrated through the shoulder and into the spine (second picture), dropping her on the spot. She wiggled a little, so I put a second arrow through the neck and into the vitals (first picture). Not the best initial hit so I'm not particularly proud of the shot, but it got the job done and I'm happy about that.
I brought her to Killers Kitchen off of Rt. 36 in NJ. I've heard many good things, and I'm excited to try some of his stuff. I ordered 2lbs. of his "Inferno" Jerky, among other things. I'll review how it is.
