I never rode the Suzuki but i have a Honda Rincon and i love it. Mine is an 06 but my brother has the 08 680 efi and his is even more powerful than mine. Usually do all of my riding up in greene county behind my house and on my unlcles farm in East Durham. I pasted a link below to a review of the 09 Kingquad.

Mbucks..
that aint far from where i go hunting..
i actually pass east durham and go to gilboa into town of conesville...
right off of south mountain rd......
right off of rt 145
there is a couple good places to eat up there on the 145 and 990v roads...

Yea i know exactly where that is. Sometimes I ride up on Mt Pisgah and the South Mountain State forest off of durham rd i dont think your supposed to be riding quads in there but i only go up that way maybe once or twice a year. My uncles farm is on cochrane rd. The same rd the zoom flume is on. My cousin has a kawaski prarie i really dont like them that though because him and my brother who both own kawasakis are always having trouble with the belts on them. . Never rode a new yamaha so i dont know much about them. I would definetly look into the rincon I know about 6 people who have them and they all love riding it including me.

I have a warrior 350 (sporty one) I would like to buy a utilty atv one day. Cant ride them on the island but they can sell them. The rincon gets great reviews but its also on the expensive side. Polaris makes some nice utility quads also.

Do yourself a favor and buy a Honda. My Honda is 19 years old now and it still runs as well as the day I got it. Can't beat their dependability and reputation.

I own a 2005 Suzuki King Quad. The only problem I had was the computers main board blew. A $500 fix covered by my warranty. That is about the only problem I can say I've heard with them. And they fixed that problem.
I hear a lot of guys say my King Quad is too big for the trails or the woods. But I have yet failed to get to a deer or tree satnd location because it couldn't get there. The extra size and weight does me fine when plowing snow. This thing plows like a truck... There isn't too many storms that can keep me in and I plow my place of business as well as my driveways. This machine just keeps working like a bull.
As for riding in NY.... You are always taking a chance on public land. Summons and taking your machine is the norm. I keep my quad on private land here and upstate. When I feel the need to see new trails and venture around I trailer the machine to Pa for miles and miles of trail riding. One place in NY that is ATV friendly is Stony Creek NY in the ADK.
Good luck with the choice, they are all nice machines. I have owned two AtV's in my life. One was this Suzuki the other was a Honda Fourtrax. They are bought still owned by me and both in running order. The Honda is a 1988. Kawasaki was my choice for dirtbikes. And I have owned Honda, Suzuki and Harley Davidson motorcycles. So I guess you can say I have tried a lot of brands, all good and all fun. One thing I have found is the kawasaki Mule (we have one at work) is not as hardy as the Yamaha Rhino (my buddy has one). The mule can not take the beating of fun and work like the Rhino.
That's my .02 cents. You want to make the journey out here, you can ride my King Quad in the back see how you like it before you make your choice.

thanks for the lenghly response hughie, and the rest of you guys..
i am stsill unsure as to honda or suzuki.. the plow is also a big issue for me, ive rode both of em, the suzuki seems a little more comfortable but they say honda reliability is second to none......
i will keep you posted when i do decide to make my move.

You might also want to consider how much the attachments are pending the brand of atv you buy. Also see what and how many attachments the machine can have like plows, aerators, trailers\carts.
