Title: ROADTRIP- Rochester NY
NYDeer - March 6, 2009 02:04 AM (GMT)
Daughter's bowling in the High School Varsity Bowling All Star Competition this weekend (Sunday) at Gates Bowl In Rochester, NY, representing Section IX. Anyone in the area, not doing anything Sunday, stop by, these kids are awesome! it's $8 admission..
Never been to Rochester, hope to see some stuf,f cause she has sat off from competition, but needs to go up Friday on the county bus. May take the trip to Niagra since the Wife & Daughter were never there.. Hitting the road tomorrow at 5. Glad it's finally here, cause all the damn truck repairs are killing me. Its almost 400mi one way, so I figured I better check out the truck a lil bit, she's pushing 98k.. Well, a water pump, belt, air filter, oil & filter, tire rotation, and Rear brakes, plus a wash & vacuum to boot, she's ready to go!
Hopefully I'll have some pics to post up when I get back, take care, NYD

Thanks all, I'll relay all your good wishes. Trip wasnt bad at all. After meeting up with the bus to drop her off, we hit the road at 6:10. With 2 short stops, we hit the hotel parking lot at 12:15. This is a big town, interstates running everywhere, jug handles galore.. Take care, NYD

Anyone been to the Rochester Sportsman Show? Does it get really 'packed' or can the ?
Due to an aligment of the planets or something, the show is this weekend, I'm here and may have some unscheduled time this afternoon, and wife said she may go shopping.. :D

yes it gets packed. last one was so bad you couldn't move.

Well, never made it to the show cause Wife's shopping partner bailed
We went downtown to the visitor's center, by the waterfall. There is a museum there with exhibits explaining how the water power was harnessed to power industrial equipment. The gift shops in the area had some really cool stuff, mostly local artisan/handmade stuff.. Will definitely try to make a return visit to Rochester to see more..
Back to the bowling.. The girls represented Section XI, Suffolk county. The lanes were tough, not muck back end action..
They shot 3 games for seeding on 2 pair, then another set of 3 games on another 2 pair in the second session. They were seeded 5th at the break, team 4 had 2 pins on ahead, team 3 by 16 pins, and team 1 was only 90 pins ahead.. So we were still in it.. The lane change really threw some of the team, and we couldn't recover any lost ground..
They wound up finishing 5 place with 5557 pins total, and Section IV, won with 5,790 pins. Nassau county, section VIII, finished in ninth with 5198.
My daughter shot games of 220, 200, 219, 177, 176, 148, for a 1140 series, 190 average. Not bad for an eighth grader! :D

There will always be another show, plus the wife would see any purchases, so it'd be tough to say 'No, Hun thats not new, I had that old thing for years, just never used it..' :D
