Well..Heading out in a few minutes and heading down to Westchester to do a morning hunt with the bow and get all my stands out there... Then into the truck start heading back towards home and stop at Mount Washington MA and hunt the evening with the black powder.... I aint given up yet....

Well boyz...here it is... We headed out to Westchester at 4:00AM. When got there at about 6ish . We we stepped out of the truck it sounded like a F-15 was warming up. The wind had to be doing at least 40MPH. Great.. Well we are hear and I had to go in and take down three stands that I had set on the property.

Drove one of my buddies to the other side of the property which is 1 1/2 miles away. Got back and headed in.. The stand I chose was out of the wind but NO sign... Sat only for about 1/2 hrs and decided to start taking that stand down. Being I had to go all the way to the other end to pull all my stands and I told my buddie that I would push the whole property towards him and the deer funnel right by his stand. I dropped all my gear but my bow and headed out. Went about a 1/2 mile thru hardwoods and saw nothen. I knew that there was a good size clump of pines between us. I figured I would zig zag thru there. Mind you while doing this I swear the winds top 50 MPH. Was getten a little nervous that I would soon be dodging trees. I was almost to the end of the pines when I spotted a DEER??? I looked again and sure as shit its a deer standing in the hardwoods just outside the pines. I cant see the head because its behind some trees between us...I think to myself... Ill try but no freaken way. I pull my release from my pocket ..knock a arrow and crouch down a little bit and start to stalk.. Now I aint no lil guy and aint the most graceful guy but had the winds noise on my side. I am scurring from tree to tree and close the distance from 60 + yards to about 35. I am now standing behind a tree that doesnt even cover half of my fat ass... I think its now or never. I peek around the tree and see its a doe that is feeding almost broad side. I stepped from behind the tree and crouched behind a downed tree. I then stood while beginning to draw. Out of the corner of my eye I catch another deer looking at me. FUCK I think "busted". I complete the draw at the deer I am looking at and let it fly....... WHACK!!!! The deer bucks and I can see that the front shoulder and leg are busted..It takes about 3 bounds down a slope in front of me and goes down face first!!! HOLY CRAP!!!! I did it!!!! She didnt even go 20 yards from where I hit her.. Saw the whole thing from beginning to end. She was dead within 45 seconds!!! That had to be the coolest thing I have ever down hunting... I felt like a god damn indian.... I told my buddies that I know want to be called "Stevie two feathers" !!! LOL!!!! Now the work began... Didnt get back to the truck with deer and THREE stands and pegs till late afternoon... We jumped in the truck and tried to make it to Mass for evening hunt.. But got caught in traffic on 84.. But all in all a GREAT day for me and a pretty good season... Three point and a doe with the bow and a doe with the blackpowder.... As yogie bera used to say.. It aint over till its over!!!! Congrats on the doe and great story. IM going back out tomorrow for the last day of suffolk bow season. Saw two giants in there yesterday went back today and only saw one doe. Im not giving up though be back out tomorrow morning.
